we’re Giusi and Marc – a founder couple and the faces behind “Portugal Undiscovered”. Our love story with Portugal began in 2015, when we travelled for the first time together to Portugal. As Marc’s family has roots in Portugal, we visited the country again in 2019. Due to our love for the amazing people in this country and the Portuguese craftmanship, one year later, we created the online-shop “Boutiqua Portuguesa” where we sell products from small Portuguese manufacturers.

During our travels through Portugal, we were always on the hunt for secret places to visit outside of the touristic hotspots. The same applied for the culinary places we visited. Due to Marc’s celiac disease and Giusi’s love for authentic, healthy and unprocessed food, we always discovered unique restaurants and cafés which you will rarely find in any mainstream travel guide.

It was clear to us that this is a love story meant to be shared. So here we are, sharing our authentic Portugal discoveries and secret adventures with all of you.”

As we share our travel journeys from Portugal on Social Media, our inbox became increasingly flooded with messages from friends, family, and even strangers, all asking for tips and recommendations for their upcoming Portugal adventures. This led to the fact that we daily answered with long messages explaining where to eat in Lisbon, what to do in Lagos or where to stay in Porto. After weeks of tired fingers from typing all the messages, we came up with the idea:

“Why not create a platform to share our love and tips of this incredible country?”

That’s how this blog was born. It’s our way of opening up our personal travel diary and guides for you. We hope to inspire your future travels, whether you’re on a hunt for the tastiest Pastel de Nata, the best beach spot, or just want to know more about our personal journey in Portugal.
