The passionate duo, Tiago and Caszmera, have opened this small bakery and brunch spot in 2022, where the focus lies on creating seasonal dishes by using fresh and local ingredients. Moreover, Hakko is famous for its amazing croissants and other fresh pastries.

If you’re visiting Hakko, you definitely have to try the Turkish eggs and the unique brioche egg sandwich, or the special weekend dishes made with the freshest market finds. A highlight here is also the porridge, which is accompanied with fermented strawberries, basil and macadamia. Some of their breakfast creations are even gluten-free, but always have a look on the menu.

Due to its small size and limited seating, we recommend to come early in order to grab a table without a long wait. It’s 100% worth it!

2. Soma Café & Cozinha – New secret opening

Recently opened in 2024, Soma Café is a great place to enjoy a breakfast and start into the day. As this place also serves speciality coffee, you can do nothing wrong by trying out their coffee drinks. Besides that, Soma Café has delicious options for lunch, so you can count on this place at Rua Adolfo Casais Monteiro even in the middle of the day.

3. Protest Kitchen – Homemade brunch from around the world

Protest Kitchen can also be found in Cedofeita, which is Porto’s trendiest neighbourhood by the way. Here, the founders, Pedro, Andrey and Fanis, offer a menu with creative and homemade dishes since 2022, which are inspired by flavours from around the world.

At Protest Kitchen, you’ll find everything from banana bread and cinnamon rolls to specialty coffees and unique brunch dishes like Greek gypsy eggs or syrniki. The breakfast highlight is definitely the syrniki dish, which are fried cottage cheese balls drenched in orange syrup and accompanied with yogurt and a mix of pistachios, walnuts and almonds. Simply fantastic and delicious!

4. A Certain Café – Italian inspired plates

A Certain Café was founded by Agustina Fortunato and Matias Romano, an Argentinian couple with Italian roots. The café is located in Porto’s Bonfim area and is known for combining high-quality Portuguese ingredients with Italian flavours. Therefore, you can find innovative Italian inspired dishes such as Artichoke dishes with Stracciatella Cheese and Artichokes alla Romana and many more delicious snacks and sandwiches.

Moreover, they serve breakfast and lunch in a spacious space that was once a car garage. The interior features a minimalist décor with some cobalt blue accents and second-hand furnishings.
