In the heart of Porto, a new dining experience awaits at “Nem Carne Nem Peixe“, the latest opening by the popular chef David Jesus. Following the success of restaurant Seiva in Leça da Palmeira, Chef Jesus continues to redefine the culinary landscape with his innovative plant-based approach. Located at 307 Rua do Almada, just a few steps from Avenida dos Aliados, this new restaurant is set to become one of the best places to enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes in a plant-based format.
Redefining traditional Portuguese dishes at “Nem Carne Nem Peixe“
While Seiva serves as a tribute to the chef’s familial heritage, “Nem Carne Nem Peixe”, which literally means “Neither Meat Nor Fish”, embodies its namesake by offering traditional cuisine 100% free from animal products.

Chef Jesus who is originally from Setúbal, wants to prove that familiar dishes like Tripas à moda de Porto and Filetes de Peixe can be reimagined with plant-based ingredients without sacrificing the essence of their flavours. His mission is to create a culinary experience that challenges prejudices about plant-based eating and its taste.
Must-visit plant-based restaurant in Porto
With “Nem Carne Nem Peixe”, Chef Jesus aspires to show that even traditional Portuguese dishes without animal products can be as delicious and satisfying as their original ones with meat and fish. Through his culinary artistry, Chef David Jesus offers real plant-based alternatives and invites his guests to reconsider their food choices towards more sustainable options. As Porto continues to grow as a hotspot for culinary innovation, “Nem Carne Nem Peixe” is one of the must-visits restaurants in 2024.
Important Note:
Since the 1st August 2024, Chef David Jesus neither the owner nor in connection with the restaurant anymore. The restaurant will continue its operations under a new management.
