The Lisbon based tea shop Companhia Portugueza do Chá is ready to open its first tea store in Porto soon. The popular tea shop, which was founded by Sebastian Filgueiras in 2014, announced on Instagram that the store opening in Porto is in progress. Let’s have a closer look to what we know so far.
New tea store at Rua da Restauração in Porto?
When Companhia Portugueza do Chá uploaded the slideshow of their upcoming store opening in Porto, there were not many information to find. However, one of the photos revealed that the new tea store will most likely be located at Rua da Restauração, almost directly next to the “Good things will happen soon” store. Fun fact, “Good things will happen soon” already sold a few teas from Companhia Portugueza do Chá since their opening more than one year ago.

Besides these first information, Companhia Portugueza do Chá is looking for new team members for their store opening. Therefore, it can be expected that the new tea shop will probably open at the end of summer/middle of autumn. For those who don’t know, Companhia Portugueza do Chá has a very special focus on high-quality teas from around the world. In combination with the unique and classical store design, their tea shop in Lisbon is a must-visit.
Partners and tea shops in Porto
With the move to also open a location in Porto, founder Sebastian Filgueiras makes the next big step. While the first tea shop in Lisbon was already a huge success, Filgueiras sees the potential in the second biggest city of Portugal. On top, many partners from Companhia Portugueza do Chá are located in the North of Portugal and especially in Porto. This gives the new location an even more strategic importance.

Another important factor is that Porto only has very limited options to buy tea in a store. One of the few tea stores called “Rota Do Chá” is actually a very small shop located in Cedofeita. With the arrival of Companhia Portugueza do Chá, the competition increases which will be good for tea lovers from Porto. As a result, the tea offering will finally increase and it will be easier to get high-quality teas such as Hojicha, Lapsang, Oolong and many more.
