Glad is a bean-to-bar chocolate brand located in the district of Boavista in Porto and founded by the two sisters Katrin and Marcella Cavalcanti. This artisanal chocolate company sources its cocoa beans directly from Ecuador, Madagascar, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic and are offering chocolates with more cocoa and no additives, emulsifiers or artificial flavours.

Their current product range includes nibs, cocoa spreads, tea infusions made from cocoa husks, and chocolate bars with unique ingredients like oats, salt, coffee, and raspberries. For this Christmas season, they even baked delicious bean-to-bar chocolate panettone and sell it as a limited edition in their shop. Moreover, their chocolate process is transparent and you can see how they create their chocolate creations, when you visit them.

As we are two chocolate lovers, we already visited Glad for a few times this year. Yesterday, we even had the honour to attend their Christmas event, where we were able to celebrate the taste of Christmas and chocolate. They also had a special gingerbread hot chocolate with toasted vanilla bean marshmallows. It was so delicious!

But how do they come up with all the great ideas and creations? The secret of Glad’s success is their great team. Besides the two passionate sisters and founders Katrin and Marcella, Nathália Alves and Pedro Tedim are completing this kind chocolate maker team. Together, they always come up with unique chocolate creations, which you have to taste for yourself in order to understand, why we are so passionate about Glad.
