If you’ve been keeping an eye on Porto’s café scene lately, you might have spotted a new matcha place in the Bonfim neighborhood. Opened on January 3rd, Café Kiwa is already making a name for itself as the ultimate spot for matcha lovers and Asian-inspired treats in Porto.
One of the best places for matcha in Porto
Porto has seen a growing obsession with specialty coffee and matcha, but Café Kiwa takes it to a new level. Designed to be the go-to spot for matcha in the city, this new café in Porto brings a modern Asian twist to the local café culture. With a minimalist interior featuring white walls, natural wood accents and plenty of greenery, the space feels calm, welcoming and effortlessly stylish.
However, the star of the menu is the premium organic matcha which is sourced from Japan and crafted into a range of delicious drinks. From the refreshing Coconut Matcha, made with chilled coconut water and a layer of matcha foam, to the spicy and invigorating Ginger Matcha, each cup is a perfect balance of flavor and freshness. For those who prefer it pure, the Ceremonial Matcha is an elegant, simple pleasure.
Asian treats and matcha workshops
Besides the great matcha drinks, Café Kiwa’s desserts are also worth a try. The Basque cheesecake is available in matcha, chocolate, and vanilla flavors, and is just the right amount of sweet. Another standout treat is the chestnut crumble which is a surprising hit for everyone who have never tasted chestnut in a dessert before. As the menu changes regularly, you will also find further Asian treats made with Hojicha or black sesam at cafe Kiwa.
