The beautiful town of Aljezur is once again ready to host its much-anticipated Sweet Potato Festival 2023. The unique event dedicated to celebrate the authentic flavors of the region, will take place at the end of this month from November 24th to 26th. Therefore, the Espaço Multiusos in Aljezur will transform into a market of culinary innovation and traditional tastes, showcasing the locally produced sweet potato.

Visitors of the festival can expect an extraordinary variety of sweet potato dishes from main courses to desserts. Moreover, renowned local chefs will be at the forefront of the festival, creating delicious and innovative recipes that highlight the culinary diversity of the sweet potato. Another special highlight of the festival will be the local chefs who showcase their talents by creating a sweet potato dessert. Finally, this culinary masterpiece will be judged and awarded by experts.

In their recent communication, the municipality of Aljezur emphasized the festival’s importance for the region as a much-awaited celebration by the community and visitors. The Association of Sweet Potato Producers of Aljezur will also be selling the world-renowned sweet potato a the festival, which is known for its unique taste and protected geographical identification (PGI). Visitors can enjoy baked sweet potatoes in a wood oven or decide to try the fried ones. Sweet potato lovers will love the variety of products which range from pastries, chocolate, liqueur, jam, brandy, ice cream, to refreshing beers!

In addition, the festival in Aljezur will welcome numerous exhibitors bringing in regional products, accompanied by entertainment that promises to delight the thousands of visitors expected over the weekend. Therefore, artisans from the area will display their exclusive handcrafted works such as ceramics, clothings and jewelry creations.

For the younger visitors, the festival promises three days of endless fun with a variety of activities, including games, face painting, balloon modeling, and many other surprises.
